The Uganda rugby premier league entered into week two with five fixtures on the card across different grounds in the country.
Black Pirates began the week two round with a 24-15 win against Mutoni Warriors at the Legends rugby ground on Friday.
Inspired by Marvin Odong who recorded a brace on the day, Pirates temporarily ascended to the top of the league table with two wins in two games after a 27-08 over Makerere Impis on match day one.
The other tries for Pirates were scored by Jude Kirya and Timothy Kisaga while Ivan Magomu and Conrad Wanyama made the conversions.
Four fixtures played on Saturday.
Defending champions Betway Kobs scrapped through to attain a hard fought 19-10 win against Sadolin Mongers.
Ian Munyani, Derrick Tukwisibwe and Keith Sseruyange got Kobs’ tries on the day with Joseph Aredo making two conversions for Kobs to win their second game albeit failed to get the bonus point.
Hima Cement Heathens moved top of the league after a spirited performance against Makerere Impis at Kyadondo rugby grounds.
Eric Mulamula made two tries and two conversions as Heathens had a walk in the park.
Byron Atubikire and Odong Francis also made a try and conversion each before Daudi Ssemwami and Richard Ackio also scored a try apiece.
Toyota Buffaloes were condemned to another defeat against a resuscitated Shell Rimula Rhinos.
After succumbing to a 35-07 loss to Mongers last week, Buffaloes again struggled against Rhinos with the latter winning 38-03.
The other game played on Saturday saw a battle of minnows who lost heavily in the opening round take on each other at the Makerere graveyard.
Rams managed to defeat Gulu Elephants 38-05.
