Fufa will hold a two weeks Caf B coaching course from January 9-22 at the Fufa technical centre in Njeru. Not surprisingly the technical department has received overwhelming applications for the course.

Each participant is expected to pay seven hundred thousand shillings as part of registration fee. It’s a cost sharing course between the FA and coaches.

“Applications for January course were closed,” Fufa education officer Mr Jackson Nyiima told ChimpSport.

“The demand for Caf coaching courses has really been on a sharp rise especially after Fufa introduced the minimum levels of education in the top flight and different leagues.”

Nyiima revealed that a huge number of coaches expressed interest to attend the course (Caf B) in January but they had to register only 40.

“Caf requires a minimum of 25 and maximum 40 participants in a class. The number was overwhelming and the federation is deliberating on organizing another course in June to cater for the numbers.”

To coach in the Uganda premier League, One has to possess a Caf B coaching license. This bar is expected to be raised after next season to a Caf A

Assistant coaches will also be required to meet the same requirements in order to sit on the bench as from the coming seasons.

Currently, Uganda has 14 CAF A licensed coaches (27 waiting certification), 39 hold CAF B while about 117 have CAF C. In 2013 there were only 28 CAF C qualified coaches.
