
Kampala University have completed a memorable double after emerging men soccer champions of the 2016 Eastern Africa University games held at the Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology in Nairobi, Kenya.
The Vincent ‘Titi Camara’ Tumusiime coached side came from an early goal down to overcome Zanzibar University 2-1 at the final whistle.
Mulendwe FC striker Moses Buga pulled level after the Islanders had picked the lead and Edgar’s Youth midfielder Ibrahim Mugulusi underlined the scoreline to gift a half time lead.
Tumusiime’s boys had survived a semifinal scare to overcome Makererere University Business School 4-2 in post-match shoot outs that followed a barren result as at full time.
Zanzibar had also squeezed past Ndejje University lions 3-2 through penalties in the other semifinal. Ndejje suffered a second loss in the third place play offs to MUBS who won 2-0.
In the ladies competition, Kyambogo University lost 2-0 to Kenya’s Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology.
