
The Uganda women’s football national team has improved by five positions in the latest FIFA women’s world rankings released on Friday.
The crested cranes have improved from 129th position they held last month to 124th in the rankings that were released by world governing body, Fifa in Geneva, Switzerland.
However, despite the ascendency in position, the Crested Cranes have dropped from the 855 points they garnered last month to 836 a drop of 21 points.
Cecafa region
In the Confederation of East and Central Football Associations (CECAFA) region, Ethiopia holds the best position at 102 improving by three slots, Tanzania follow at 116th while Rwanda have the most improved side in the region moving 15 slots up from 135 to 120.
Kenyan Starlets who had a poor display at the recently concluded Women’s African cup of Nations remained stagnant at 122nd position.
Champions Nigeria are the best ranked team in Africa in the 35th position, Ghana in 45th, Cameroon in 47th position while South Africa and Ivory Coast complete Africa’s best five at 51st and 68th positions respectively.
The top five globally remains unchanged with USA,Germany,France, Canada and England occupying the slots in that order.
