Afcon 2017: Egypt Release Final Arsenal

Tournament favorites, Egypt, have finally submitted a 23-man squad that will be used in the African cup of nations in Gabon.

The Pharaohs were drawn in Group D alongside last year’s losing finalists Ghana, Mali and the Uganda Cranes.

Four players who were earlier drafted in the 27 man provisional squad have been dropped. They include Mohamed Ibrahim (Zamalek), keeper Hassan Awad (Ismaily) and Al Masry duo Hamada Tolba and Ahmed Goma.

The squad has English premier league trio Ramadhan Sobhi who plays for Stoke City, Arsenal’s Mohammed El Nenny and Ahmed Elmohamad who plays for Hull City. AS Roma star Mohammed Salah will lead the team’s striking force.

Goalkeepers: Sheriff Ekramy (Al Ahly), , Ahmed El-Shennawy (Zamalek),  Essam El-Hadary (Wadi Degla)

Defenders: Ahmed Dwidar, Ali Gabr (Zamalek), Ahmed Hegazy, Saad Samir, Ahmed Fathy -(Al Ahly), Ahmed Elmohamady (Hull City, England), Omar Gaber (FC Basel), Mohamed Abdel-Shafy(Ahli Jeddah), Karim Hafez (RC Lens, France)

Midfielders: Abdallah El-Said(Al Ahly), Ramadan Sobhi (Stoke City, England), Tarek Hamed, Ibrahim Salah -(Zamalek),Mohamed Elneny (Arsenal, England), Amr Warda (Panetolikos, Greece) , Mahmoud Hassan (Mouscron, Belgium)

Forwards: Ahmed Hassan ‘Kouka’(SC Braga, Portugal) , Marwan Mohsen (Al Ahly), Mahmoud Kahraba (Al Ittihad), Mohamed Salah (AS Roma, Italy.
