Hima Cement Heathens 33-17 Betway Kobs
Not even a slow start would stop Hima Cement Heathens from earning bragging rights against eternal rivals Betway Kobs.
Heathens stretched their perfect start to the season to 8 straight wins after defeating Kobs 33-17 at Kyadondo rugby grounds on Friday.
Defending champions, Kobs had a better start to the game with Gabriel Aredo putting them ahead with a penalty and went ahead to take the first half 17-13.
However, Heathens put up a spirited come back in the second period to eventually earn victory.
Edmund Tumusiime’s charges started explosively with Aredo scoring a penalty before Ramathan Govule made a try and conversion to stretch the lead to 10-00
Aaron Ofwoirwoth scored two penalties to narrow the gap but Kobs stretched it further through Adnan Mutebi’s try despite Mike Wokorach pulling one for Heathens and the score board read 17-13 at halftime.
However, Heathens returned a recharged side with Phillip Wokorach, Mike Wokorach and Aaron Ofwoirwoth orchestrating the comeback.
The result means Heathens cement their lead on top of the table on 37 points, 9 above second placed Kobs with 10 games to play.
