Betway Power 61-54 City Oilers

After succumbing to a narrow defeat in game one, Betway Power proved they have what it takes to give City Oilers a run for their money.

A resuscitated performance saw Power dominate the proceedings winning game two (61-54) that was played on Sunday at the MTN Arena, Lugogo to level the series at 1-1.

Just like it was the case in game one where Power matched Oilers almost in every angle and sense, the five time champions were even more clinical this time round.

The first period ended 13 apiece with Power’s Fammy Ssebatindira making the two free throws at the end of the quarter to level the score.

Power returned the better side in the second quarter with Joseph Ikong, Michael Kojjo and Paul Odong leading the park while Oilers on the other side were at sixes at sevens.

Eventually, Power built a lead to claim the second period 27-22 heading into half time.

The third quarter was even more thrilling. Power tried to maintain the gap they had created earlier on with the lead oscillating between 4-6 points.

However, Oilers surged up towards the end of the third period managing 21 points and claiming a 43-42 lead heading into the final quarter.

Paul Odong who had a stellar performance on the day had two 3 jump shots in the final quarter and Power were clinical on defence to tame Oilers.

Even when Joseph Ikong fouled out with 03:46 minutes to play, Power remained focused and resilient and finally won the game 62-54.

Paul Odong had a team high 15 points for Power closely followed with Joseph Ikong and Michael Kojjo who had 11 points apiece.

Kami Kabungu’s game high 16 points ended on a losing note.

Game three of the best of 7 series will played on Wednesday at the MTN Arena, Lugogo.
