Uganda team heading to the 4th roll ball world cup is ready for the tournament, says team captain Godfrey Bukwata Nsubuga.

The 2017 Roll Ball world Cup kicks off on Friday, 17 February under the auspicies of the Bangladesh Roller Skating Federation and will run for a week up to 24th in Dhaka.

“We have prepared very well for the tournament and expect good results from the team,”
Bukwata told ChimpSport.

Like all other sporting disciplines in the country, Roll ball is struggling financially and calling out for help.

“Our biggest challenge is finances because we don’t have sponsors as per now but in terms of talent, I believe we are gifted,” the skipper adds.

Uganda has taken part in each of the last three editions. The team finished 6th out of 24 countries in the first tournament held in india, fourth position out of 16 in Kenya and India in the second and third finals respectively.

The Thomas Bamuteeze coached side qualified for this year’s event after emerging champions in the Africa Rollball championship held in Kampala. The team beat Kenya to the title.

What is Rollball?
Rollball is a game played between two teams of 12 players. Out of 12 only 6 players are allowed to play on court at a time. This game is played on skates.

The ball can be held in single hand or both hands, even during passing. A player must dribble the ball while carrying it. In this players of both teams have to goal and the team which is able to goal more in number than the opponent team wins. There are two referees in a match.
