
With the January mid transfer window shutting slam on Tuesday, several clubs made late signings to bolster their squads ahead of the second round of the Azam Uganda Premier League.
Uganda Revenue Authority Football Club announced the acquisition of centre forward Hamis “Diego” Kiiza on a six months deal till the end of the season.
Kiiza who has been linked with several local clubs including KCCA FC where he has been training and Vipers agreed to rejoin URA, a team he played for between 2009 and 2011.
The swift forward was last week deemed surplus to requirement at Premier Soccer League (S.Africa) side Free State Stars a club he joined at the start of the season.
Diego as he is popularly known returns to URA for the second time having played for the tax collectors for three years up to 2011 helping the team win two league titles and finishing top scorer during the 2010/11 season The striker expressed his delight in rejoining URA a club he calls home and promised to deliver to his best ability.
“URA FC is where I started my professional football, it’s a big club in Uganda and East Africa so am very happy to be home and I will delivery highly to lift the club brand,” he said.
Kiiza comes in to solve the goal crisis at the club which struggled in the first round scoring 18 goals in 15 games of first round. This is the second major signing for URA after midfielder Saidi Kyeyune also returned back to the club.
