Kirinya Jinja SSS FC’s search for a maiden win in the Uganda Premier League has been stretched to match day 17 after another disheartening stalemate played at Fufa technical centre in Njeru.

The school boys did everything else, but score, in a match they controlled for most parts. Winger James Otim wasted a second minute chance.

Allan Drajua made a diagonal clearance which the youngster cooled down and advanced for a one in one with Oringa but the keeper was quick off his line and cleared danger.

Oringa received his debut and earned lots of praises from his new coach William Lutaalo who was incidentally in charge of his first game.

“The keeper has done a good job especially adapting quickly on this artificial turf which disturbed most of my players in the initial minutes,” he said.

Kirinya gave debuts to Vipers SC loanees Bashir Mutanda and John Ssemazzi but it’s the latter who irked the fans more with his toothlessness in front of goal, selfishness and poor passing rate.

Mid first half saw the chance of the day going into waste. Drajua split a pass to Ssemazzi for a quick counter attack from the centre line with Otim and Mutanda running into space in a three on one situation but the former Under-23 striker opted to run the whole length to the corner flag instead of passing to his eagerly waiting mates.

Geoffrey Ssimbwa fired the visitors ahead in the 70th minute after the hosts defense clumsily failed to clear off danger inside the box.

Anthony Mayanja pulled one back nine minutes later from the spot just before Soana’s time wasting tactics could yield anything.

Kirinya draws hit a double figure just one below the draw masters URA FC.
