Experienced midfielder Vincent Kayizzi was a second half substitute replacing play maker Muzamir Mutyaba as KCCA FC overcame club Desportivo 1 de Agosto from Angola in a Caf Champions league game.
Geoffrey Sserunkuma rose high to head a pin point corner kick from Brian Majwega just after the breather.
Kayizzi’s overall performance seems to have henpecked Coach Mutebi’s head who wasn’t shy of criticizing with outrageous remarks after the game.
“You have tactically changed a formation and think this is a senior player who you think is coming in to interprete the tactics and he doesn’t,” Mutebi stated.
“So where does the experience come in?” He paused, “Kayizzi would have got three chances, One on one situation, to score but didn’t use them. We removed Nsibambi because he wasn’t good in one-on-one situation and Kayizzi is better.”
The midfielder’s notable effort on the pitch was witnessed in the 68th when he picked a ball and looped over two defenders for Sserunkuma to shoot.
“He didn’t interprete the tactics and that is worrying because when we made the substitution, it was not just about changing numbers. You must use substitutes to better your situation.
“I don’t want to dwell much on Kayizzi because these are just players trying to learn the game. They may be talented but have never known how to play it. So maybe they’re still learning,” he concluded.
KCCA FC travel to Angola next week for the return leg.
