Half time score
KCCA FC 1-0 Mamelodi Sundowns
Prolific striker Geoffrey Sserunkuma has given Uganda’s representatives in the CAF champions league KCCA FC a deserving halftime lead.
The calm and composed striker tapped home Brian Majwega’s cross a minute after the half hour mark to send a fully parked Phillip Omondi stadium into frenzy.
KCCA FC showed no respect for the defending champions attacking right from onset making several attempts.
As early as the second minute, KCCA FC had a free kick outside the area but Sundowns were able to clear out of danger.
Five minutes later, Mucureezi Paul headed wide Joseph Ochaya’s cross unmarked inside the area.
The visitors were forced to make an early change with defender Wayne Arendse stretched off in the 13th minute and was replaced by Bangaly Soumahoro.
KCCA goalkeeper Benjamin Ochan was tested by Yannick Zakri but the shot stopper parried the ball away.
Sundowns had another attempt with skipper testing Ochan who had moved off the line but the latter tapped the ball off.
Three minutes to the half hour mark Bangaly Soumahoro headed home but his effort was ruled for offside.
It was Geoffrey Sserunkuma who tapped home Majwega’s cross in the 31st minute to break the deadlock.
KCCA FC will advance to the group stages if they can keep the lead as it stands.
