Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) football club suffered a painful exit after conceding a late goal against Mamelodi Sundowns.

In a game played at Phillip Omondi stadium on Saturday KCCA FC bowed out at the Total CAF champions 3-2 on aggregate.

Despite opening the scores through Geoffrey Sserunkuma, KCCA FC conceded late when Anthony Laffor scored in the 81st minute leveled matters as the stadium went silent.

However, KCCA FC head coach Mike Mutebi has blamed the exit on Nigerian import Suleimon Akinyemi who he introduced in the second half.

Mutebi indicated, the combative midfielder failed to do what he had commanded him to do.

“I will put it straight to you that I blame him (Akinyemi) simply because he did not do what I had told him to do,” he said in a post-match presser.

“I thought I brought him on simply because he has the ability to move forward and at the same time back track to give cover to the defence but he did not do that,” said a furious Mutebi.

Akinyemi who has been a rare figure in Mutebi’s lineups this season making a few appearances this season was brought on in the 49th minute replacing youngster Allan Okello.

The result means Mamelodi Sundowns advance to the group stages 3-2 on aggregate while KCCA FC now  drop to Total Confederation cup where they will play at the second round.
