Uganda Cup Round of 16
Kataka FC vs KCCA FC
Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA FC) have the chance to claim their first ever domestic double should they go ahead to defend the league title and go on to win Uganda Cup.
With the elimination of holders Vipers and last year’s finalists Onduparaka, KCCA FC have the chance to claim the title that has evaded them since 2004.
The hurdle for KCCA FC at the moment is a tricky Fufa Big league side Kataka FC who hail from Mbale.
Despite playing for their first time in the second division, Kataka have been hard to break down especially at Nabini playground in Bufumbo village.
KCCA FC manager Mike Mutebi is not taking the game lightly and believes his team will put up the performance that will bring them victory.
“We are not treating it as a small fixture because knockout tournaments do not have big or small clubs. The boys are ready and we are going there with a positive mentality after the win against Al Masry on Saturday,” he said.
However, Mutebi indicated he will do team rotation with several players expected to rest.
“We have had several games in a few days and still have a congested fixture ahead of us, so we need to do a bit of rotation,” he indicated.
Goalkeeper Charles Lukwago will start with Ochan Benjamin rested while Mutebi revealed the defence line won’t change from the one that played against Al Masry.
Ivan Ntege and Isaac Kirabira are expected to start ahead of Tom Masiko and injured Muzamir Mutyaba while Allan Okello and Mustspha Kiiza are cup tied after earlier on featuring for KCCA corporate team.
To reach the round of 16, KCCA FC eliminated Lungujja Galaxy 6-0 while Kataka edged past Synergy 1-0.
The winner on aggregate will take Police FC in the quarterfinals.
