Jinja Secondary School have been one of the most impressing teams at the 2017 National post primary schools tournament in Masaka going all the way to reach their maiden final in history.
Ahead of the final on Saturday at Masaka Recreation ground, Jinja SS will be aiming at defying odds to lift the title as they take on traditional giants St. Mary’s Kitende.
The eastern giants put up a spirited fight to go past Nakaseke International in the semifinal that had to be decided on penalties after normal time ended in a one all stalemate.
Jinja SS eventually held their nerves to win the penalty shootout 3-1 and book a berth in their first ever final.
On the other hand, St. Mary’s Kitende needed a resilient performance to eject defending champions Kibuli SS at the muddy arena playground, Kitovu in the second semifinal on Friday.
A first brace from Brian Kalumba was enough to send Kitende to their 10th final despite Kibuli pulling one back through midfielder Joel Jangeyange.
The battle for the crown will be orchestrated by the clinical forwards that both teams have.
Jinja SS have Joel Madondo who has so far scored 11 goals while St. Mary’s Kitende will heavily rely on Vipers forward Pius Wangi.
Kibuli SS and Nakaseke International will battle for the third place at 2pm before the final at 4pm all at Masaka Recreation ground.
