SC Villa dreams of winning this year’s Azam Uganda Premier League title have been boosted by a hard-fought 2-0 win away to BUL FC at Kakindu Stadium in Jinja on Saturday.

The Jogoos came into the game at the back of four consecutive draws against the Bul FC side including a goalless result from the first round in Nakivubo.

Coach Kirya who stressed a lot on attack from the beginning of the match was left disappointed with the team’s wasteful character in front of goal within the first half hour and was immediately forced to pull of Yesseri Waibi for a more illustrious Ambrose Kirya in the 32nd minute.

The change yielded just at the first touch the former JMC captain had when he intercepted Hashim Sempala’s pass before dribbling and then connected with Serumaga in the lower left flank.

Serumaga held down Ssempala and sailed in a cross to Kirya who in turn tapped for Kamanzi to power in a header.

The hosts last visible chance in the half presented in the 40th minute. Titus Lubega dribbled past three defenders only to be brought down at the edge of the box. The striker stepped for the freekick but was unfortunate as it just kissed the top right corner.

Missed penalty.

Bul had a chance to equalize from the spot after Sebwato had fouled Shaka Ssozi inside the box just ten minutes from the breather. Ssozi raced to get Nsumba’s feeble pass, tapped it beyond Sebwato who brought him down. The striker took the shot by himself but Sebwato was on point to fall in the right direction.

Umar Kasumba finished the job with six minutes to time when he blocked Walulya’s dribble, drove into the box and fired a shot which Oringa saved but unfortunately hit Mukisa junior before rolling into the net.

The win raises Villa to 10th with 36 after 21 games
