KCCA FC will be seeking to become the third team to win the domestic double (League and Uganda Cup in the same season) after SC Villa and Express FC.

1983
KCCA FC won the 1983 league title with relative ease with three games to spare having lost only two games all season; against SC Villa and Nile FC.
This was KCCA FC fourth league title toppling SC Villa who had won the 1982 title unbeaten.
So, when the two sides reached the Uganda Cup final, Villa was out to prove a point.
On the way to the final, SC Villa saw off Express FC 2-1 while KCCA eased past Tobacco 5-2.
SC Villa however went ahead to win the Uganda Cup title courtesy of Sula Ssentamu’s late strike and KCCA FC missed out on clinching the domestic double.
1985
In one of the most memorable finishes to a league season, KCCA beat Express FC to the title on a goal difference of three goals.
Coincidentally, both teams made it to the final on November 21. In the semis, KCCA eliminated Nile FC while Express overcame Coffee.
For the second time, talk of winning the double of a league and Cup double had gained momentum in football circles and KCCA fans taunted rival clubs how they were going to become the first side to achieve the feat.
Incidentally, the season was organized in a way that both the league and Uganda Cup trophies were arranged to be awarded on the day of the final. So, this further heightened the tension and excitement of the final.
In the final, right from the onset, Express looked the hungrier and took the lead through youthful Joachim Matovu.
A few minutes into the second half, KCCA skipper Charles Masiko evened matters but the celebrations in the yellow half of Nakivubo stadium were short-lived when Phillip Musoke restored Express lead.
KCCA won a late penalty but Has-san Biruma fluffed the opportunity from the spot.
Express put the result beyond doubt when Muguwa connected with Mukasa’s cross to make it 3-1.
It was Express’ first Uganda Cup title.
2014
Having won the 2012/13 league title with two games to spare, KCCA under the tutelage of George Nsimbe, set their eyes yet again on the elusive double.
So, reaching the Uganda Cup final against URA FC provided the best chance.
The match played at Mbale Municipal stadium saw KCCA grab the lead through William Wadri before Simeon Masaba equalized for Paul Nkata’s charges.
Moses Feni Ali put the Taxmen in the lead before KCCA FC equalized through Derrick Nsibambi to take the game to penalty shoot-out.
It was heartbreak again as KCCA lost 2-4 with Kiwanuka Gadaffi and Ronnie Kisekka failing to convert their spot-kicks.
