The Uganda national football team safely returned home after a job well done on their expedition in Cape Verde.
The Cranes touched down at Entebbe International airport on Tuesday morning at 3 am aboard Ethiopian airlines ET 366.
Upon arrival, the team was treated to a brief dinner before the captain, coach and Fufa President addressed the media.
Time for departure came and to the shock of many including players, the team manager Crispus Muyinda started giving out a 50,000 note to each of the players as transport back home.
Some of the players were heard complaining about the peanut facilitation given to them as they headed to their respective destinations.
A player who preferred anonymity intimated to this website how their efforts and work is undermined by getting such meager returns.
“It is a pity that we sacrifice our lives to represent the nation but we get peanuts. Our contribution is not valued like the Fufa President said in his submission,” stated the player.
There has always been reports of delayed remittance of players allowances and winning bonuses but the Federation has always come out to state that there is a mutual agreement with the players on when to get their money.
Earlier on, Fufa boss, Engineer Moses Magogo had scoffed at government for poor facilitation rendered to the national team.
Magogo asserted that it is the duty of the government to take full charge of facilitating the national team and he bemoaned the situation that the team had to undergo before playing the game against Cape Verde.
Uganda defeated Cape Verde 1-0 away in Praia courtesy of Geoffrey Sserunkuma’s goal and now leads group L of the 2019 African Cup of Nations qualifiers ahead of Lesotho, Tanzania and Cape Verde
