The government of the Russian Federation through its Embassy in Kampala has confirmed that foreign spectators of the FIFA confederations Cup 2017 and FIFA World Cup 2018 will not need Russian visas to enter to country.
For the spectators of the FIFA confederations Cup 2017, according to the communiqué from the embassy, the period of the visa-free entry began on June 12, 2017.
While for foreign fans going for the FIFA Football World Cup 2018, the period of the visa-free entry will be communicated in due course.
Instead of the Visa, for foreign citizens to enter and leave the Russian Federation, they will be given a personalized spectator card (“Fan-ID”).
The ID, the statement reads, can be received by email from a dedicated website, fan-id.ru
This document, along with the ticket for the match, is a mandatory document to gain entry to the stadium.
The FAN ID is a measure to boost security of the tournament for all participants and spectators.
