Uganda Cranes duo of midfielder Yasser Mugerwa and goalkeeper Robert Odongkara helped Ethiopia’s side St.George to win the 2016/17 season.
St. George fc, commonly called Kedus Giorgis fc due to their Greek founders way back in 1935, managed to clinch this season’s title with a narrow 1-0 victory against Ethiopia Nigd Bank fc, taking the club’s tally to 62 points from 30 games played.
Odongkara 27, formerly at SC Villa joined the Ethiopian based club in 2011 from URA fc in 2011.
He has managed to help the side win 4 consecutive league titles playing an integral part as the first choice shot stopper.
However, he ended the season on the sidelines after picking up a knee injury that ruled him out.
Mugerwa joined St.George in September 2016 as a free agent after being released by Orlando Pirates in August.
The former URA FC and now defunct Victoria University has struggled for playing time in his maiden season.
Ivory Coast import, Bruno Kone scored the all-important goal for the winning side who were confirmed winners a couple of weeks ago with four matches to play.
