How the drama unfolded
Uganda U19 team captain Kenneth Waisswa won the toss and elected to bat.
Uganda’s innings
The start for the Baby cranes was poor as opening batsman Zephania Arinaitwe was caught in the 4th over with just 14 runs to his name.
Peace was restored when his opening partner, Ronald Opio, held on to remain on the crease and scoring 67 runs off 85 balls, hitting 5 boundaries in the process before getting run out by Aboagye.
Waiswa and Ssenkubuge registered double figures notching 22 and 17 in that order, but the tail enders in Bukenya and Kyewota were both eliminated for a duck.
The Baby cranes were all out at the closing end of the 35th over, ending an incredible innings with 148 runs.
Ghana’s turn
With Ghana needing 149 runs from 50 overs to win the game, it looked like an easy chase but Uganda’s bowler Trevor Bukenya had a better thought.
The opening partnership of Anami and Ossei was eliminated in quick successions without a run registered thanks to Bukenya’s heroic bowling.
Bakum who later came in at the 4th position managed to get the things going for the Ghanaians when he hit a half century off 97 balls.
Bakum was bowled by Arinaitwe and caught by Waisswa as Ghana succumbed to pressure, and later all their batsmen were all out before the 39th over with just 116 runs.
