Uganda Drops in Latest Fifa Rankings

The Uganda national football team, the Cranes has dropped three places in the latest Fifa rankings.

Despite earning a vital win away to Cape Verde in the 2019 African Cup of Nations qualifier, Uganda has declined in the Fifa rankings.

The monthly rankings released on Thursday July 6 show that Uganda has fallen from 71st position to 74th.

The statistics indicate Uganda garnered 476 points last month, a decline of two (478 points) in May.

In Africa, Egypt still maintains the summit status and are the best ranked African team at 24th place but have also fallen by 4 slots from 20th.

The Pharaohs are followed by Senegal (27), Democratic Republic of Congo (28), Tunisia (34) and Cameroon (36) as the top 5 ranked teams in that order.

Uganda ranks 15th in Africa.

Cecafa Region Uganda like it has been the case is the best ranked team in the region at 74th place.

Kenya have dropped by ten slots occupy 84th position while Tanzania come at 114th place.

Burundi has improved by 27 slots to 121st, Rwanda is 127th whilst South Sudan is 143rd.

Uganda’s opponents 2018 World Cup qualifiers

Egypt -24th, Ghana-50th and Congo Brazzaville –86th.

2019 African Cup of Nations Cape Verde-115th Tanzania-11 World champions Germany who are fresh from winning the FIFA Confederation Cup have moved to the summit of the global rankings dispensing Brazil.

Germany has risen from 3rd to the top spot collecting a total of 1609 points, an addition of 88 points from their previous tally.

Brazil have dropped to second while Argentina have also dropped one step further to third.
