Defender Habib Kavuma will not play for Kampala Capital City Authority Football Club (KCCA FC) when they take on Club Africain in Total CAF Confederation Cup.
Kavuma who missed the game against FUS Rabat on Sunday due to suspension is not eligible to play for KCCA FC against Club Africain tomorrow (Friday), according to CAF competition rules and regulations.
According to section VII (Disciplinary measure), a player that is suspended twice in the same tournament/season, the punishment is doubled on the second time of suspension.
Section VII, Article 1 stipulates: “A player who receives two cautions shall be automatically suspended from playing the subsequent match in CAF inter club competitions. This automatic suspension shall be communicated by the Secretariat to the concerned associations.”
Article 2 shows that “If the same player accumulates, later on in the same competition, two more cautions in 2 different matches until the end of the group matches, then the second sanction will be doubled and the player will be suspended for the subsequent matches.”
Habib Kavuma first suspension came against Egypt’s Al Masry and he did not feature in the 1-0 victory at home.
His recent suspension came in the 2-1 loss to Rivers United when he was sent off after picking two yellow cards. He missed the 3-1 win against FUS Rabat.
And according to the aforementioned regulations, the defender is not supposed to feature for KCCA FC against Club Africain.
KCCA FC takes on Club Africain on Friday in Tunisia seeking for at least a point to guarantee their place in the quarts finals.
