Ronald Ddungu Mukiibi played 76 minutes for Ostersunds’ 2-0 victory against Galatasaray on Thursday night in the first leg of the Europa league third round qualifier.
Mukiibi was later withdrawn in the 76th minute, paving way for Bergqvist as the hosts were leading 1-0.
Mukiibi was born in Sweden and once turned down a Uganda Cranes call-up for the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations tournament in Gabon, claiming it was a difficult and different level to what he is used to.
His club Ostersunds competes in Allsvensken, a Swedish top tier division where they currently sit 6th on the log with 23 points from 14 league matches.
Mukiibi who rubbed shoulders with Galatasaray’s cream of Maicon, Muslera and Bafetimbi Gomis will be part of the Ostersunds team that will visit Telekom Stadium in Instabul for their Europa return leg with Galatasaray on Thursday, July 20.
