City Oilers vs Pemba Warriors

Most of the Basketball fans in Uganda consider the play-offs as the pinnacle of entertainment in the National Basketball League, but with such a fixture that brings City Oilers and Pemba Warriors together in regular season, some fans will share a different idea.

YMCA court in Wandegeya will today hold a previlledge to host a nerve-wrecking encounter between defending champions and unbeaten league favourites Pemba Warriors.

It has been a perfect and dream start for the Ronnie Mutebi’s Warriors this season, as the team is yet to lose a single game from its 6 league encounters.

Warrior’s last game was a 72-53 victory against the Ndejje Angels in which a domimant Michael Buzangu scored 22 points.

This has been their theme song as the team has swept aside Our Saviour, UCU Canons, Tomahawks, Betway Power and Falcons.

City Oilers at the other end of the court have not had a rollercoaster ride thus far.

Mandy Juruni’s side has won 4 of his 7 games this season, a record which is poor if it’s to be mentioned in line with the ability of a defending champion.

The team that boasts with the league’s top cream of actors in Captain Stephen Omony, Jimmy Enabu, Otim Jonah and Ben Komakech have suffered defeats to Betway Power, UCU canons and Ndejje Angels.

With an expected sell-out, this surely promises to be the game of the regular season.

In the ladies game, Lioness will play KIU Rangers in what has been dubbed as the day’s curtain-raiser.
