In a bid to create a wider money pool for the federation, Eng. Moses Magogo, president of the Federation of Uganda Football Association (FUFA) has Wednesday revealed his plans to commercialize the game.

Speaking at the Press conference held at FUFA House in Mengo, Magogo said that the federation can no longer only depend on gate collections from the audience in the stadium.

“We must therefore take the game and other Footballing events to the people in the sitting rooms for us to be able to make money,” he said.

“We must produce our events; we must put them on T.V such that anybody at home will be able to watch a big league game. And that will become easier to reach the sponsors for money.”

Magogo who said that he needs everyone’s support including fans and media to improve the image of football in Uganda, added that he cannot acquire the right sponsorship with few people in the stadium.

“Even if the stadium is full, that is not the only audience a sponsor is looking for. A full Namboole is 40,000 people and a sponsor is looking for millions of potential customers,” he explained.

“And we can only achieve that by taking the games to the people in the sitting rooms and that is through TVs and digital media (social media) platforms.”

The Fufa president also noted that he seeks to empower teams to become professional, create marketable brands and tap into the corporate world.

He also hinted on soon unveiling the new Uganda Cranes jersey designs.
