Defending champions Vipers SC have a chance to reduce the gap with table leaders KCCA FC to two points when they take on relegation threatened army side Simba FC at Buikwe on Friday afternoon.
The reverse fixture ended with a massive 3-1 for the champions away in Bombo barracks with Farouk Miya scoring his last goal for the team. Patrick Sembuya and Erisa Sekisambu scored the other two while Aggrey Kirya consoled the army men.
After Miya’s departure, Suleiman’Mike’ Mutyaba, Pius Wangi and Erisa Sekisambu were highly touted to fill the gap but however only the latter has proved his worth going on to strike eight more times.
Vipers were held to a disappointing barren draw away to JMC Hippos last Friday but stars striker Erisa Sekisambu believes the team is ready for the last lap.
“We need a performance better than the previous one to get something from this tie. We come into this game full of confidence. Everyone in the team is aware of the importance of this game and we shall get the result needed,” Sekisambu told Vipers media.
Vipers have accumulated 50 points and need to win all their remaining games and pray KCCA drop points. However, they’re facing an opponent who is in the last survival battle.
Simba are rooted in the relegation zone with 25 points and need to pick all remaining points and hope Lweza FC drop more points.
