Team Uganda Suffer Second Loss at World University Games

Uganda 59-85 Czech Republic

Uganda University Ladies’ Basketball team lost their second match at the ongoing 2017 World University Games in Taipei, Asia.

The team suffered a 59-85 loss against Czech Republic University team, their second defeat following a nervous performance against USA in the opener.

Coach Nicholas Natuhereza and his assistant Albert Aciko opted for Ritah Imanishimwe, Stacey Lubowa, Zainah Lokamweri, Sarah Ageno and Annet Among to start.

The team went down by 10 points in the first quarter and the Czech team never looked back taking a 33-49 lead at halftime, 44-64 in the third quarter before sealing a comfortable 59-85 victory.

However, the team had some individual brilliances; Brenda Ekone and Jamilah Nansikombi scored 18 and 10 points respectively. Ageno Sarah had 7 points and 17 rebounds.

Uganda is the only African Country that took a Ladies Basketball team in the ongoing World University Games.

The team is at the bottom of Group C with 2 points, with USA, Czech Republic and Poland the other University teams in the group.
