In the first round of National Basketball League, Betway Power suffered two losses, coming in the hands of Pemba Warriors and UPDF Tomahawks.

The one against the Kyambogo side deserves no debate, but the shocking result came against the Army side.

However, Arnold Lando’s charges managed to put up a good show as they finished second on the table with just nine victories from their 11 games played in the Men’s National Basketball League.

Three games into their second round menu and the side has already suffered two defeats; 64-65 against Warriors and 65-69 against Ndejje University Angels.

Power’s on-form player Michael Makiadi told ChimpReports that his side was rusty prior the Friday loss to the University side.

“We had a problem with accessing a court because there was a Bazaar at YMCA court so we could not train from there hence we worked out the gym,” he said.

“We were rusty but let’s give credit where it’s due; Ndejje did play well.”

The Betway Power Centre also revealed to this website that the side misses skipper Joseph Ikong who is on National duty with the Silverbacks ahead of the Afrobasket Championship.

“We definitely miss Joseph Ikong, especially his leadership and court presence,” he said.

However, Makiadi’s form has not deteriorated; the player has hit a total of 70 points, averaging around 23 points per game since the start of second round phase.

He garnered 22, 18 and 30 points against Pemba Warriors, Nkumba Marines and Ndejje University Angels in that order.

Betway Power will return to action this Wednesday, September 6 to take center stage with Record 6 time Champions Startimes Falcons at the YMCA Kampala Outdoor Court in Wandegeya.
