FBL: Onduparaka Coach Waters Down Fatigue Talks Ahead of Finals

Newly promoted Arua based Onduparaka FC are coming for big league finals at the back of honoring three crucial nail biting fixtures in a space of just six days.

Their second division finals fixture against Kirinya-Jinja SS FC comes at a time when the football fraternity would be feeling sympathy, fearing for the team’s fatigue but however their head coach has hushed up the talk reaffirming that his boys are fresh to run another ninety (90) minutes and claim the title.

“Fatigue will not affect my players because they’re “soldiers” who are strong and have always been playing under such conditions since their child hood,” coach Allan Kabonge told Chimp Sport in a telephone interview.

The caterpillars also known as the Sorghum stalks piped Sporting United to the solitary direct promotion spot in the Elgon group after a convincing 3-0 win last Saturday.

On Monday, they cruised past Busia Fisheries with the same victory margin and three days later edged out topflight club Soana FC 1-0 to set up a semifinal date against Entebbe FC.

“Most of them (players) are accustomed to playing in galas (short-time tourneys) and even training twice a day. They were very fresh against Busia Fisheries and performed against Soana; a premier league club. My players showed their might on the pitch with probably the best performances in the cup stages. We have also not been conceding,” he added.

Jinja SS leapfrogged Proline FC on the last match day to claim the other promotion place allocated for the Rwenzori group.

The two youthful sides test strength on Sunday at the war Memorial stadium in Nakivubo with bragging rights, a medal and a cool one million shillings at stake.

“On Sunday, we are just going for a normal game and the players will be fresh for it. While we were playing, our opponents were also training.”
