The 2017 Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) have been officially launched on Thursday morning at Kampala Serena Hotel.
Running for the third consecutive year, the awards come as a token of appreciation to excelling Ugandan footballers in a span of one year.
While launching the awards, Mr. Rogers Byamukama who represented Fufa President, Moses Magog indicated that these awards help in motivating players.
“It is a great innovation in helping our players get motivated hence helping Ugandan football to develop,” he said.
In the categories unveiled, Geoffrey Sserunkuma, Muzamir Mutyaba and Tadeo Lwanga will contend for the 2017 FUFA male player.
Sserunkuma helped KCCA FC win their first ever double being top scorer in the league with 21 goals.
He also played an integral part as KCCA FC played up to the group stages of the CAF champions league.
Muzamir Mutyaba also is on the list for helping KCCA FC retain the league title while Tadeo Lwanga helped SC Villa finish second.
In the FUFA Female player of the year category, reigning best player Hasifa Nassuna returns and will contend with Olila’s duo of Fazilah Ikwaput and goalkeeper Vanessa Karungi.
The other categories include FUFA best XI,Fair Play award, coach of the year among others.
The Fufa awards will take place on 1st December at Speke Resort Munyonyo.
