Express 1-2 Onduparaka

Samson Ceaser Okhuti scored a late winner as Onduparaka managed to pick a 2-1 victory against Express FC at Muteesa II stadium, Wankulukuku.

At 1-1 in the added minutes of normal time, with the game destined for a stalemate, Okhuti received a beautiful delivery down the right flank before turning for a volley past Express FC shot stopper Godwin Buule.

The victory was the third in a row for the Caterpillars; the Arua-based club had beaten Soana (2-0) and Police (1-0).

A good performance but a bad result

Express FC visibly put up their best display so far this season.

Douglas Bamweyana’s side had a slow start but later on looked well composed as they did attack in numbers and defend as a whole.

Their first clear chance fell to Davis Mayanja but his header from Bengo’s free kick missed by an inch.

After going down by Alfred Leku’s goal just a minute at the start of the second half, the Red Eagles looked not bothered as they were determined to search for an equaliser.

Dan Sserunkuma failed to tap in Ndihabwe’s cross; Bernard Agele’s header from a corner went off the target as Onduparaka sat at the back with a 6-3-1 formation.

With 15 minutes left on the clock, Sserunkuma levelled the matters when he burried Mubarak Nsubuga’s assist to send the home fans into wild celebrations.

Michael Birungi paved way for Sam Galiwango as Bamweyana searched for the winner but his efforts were in vain.

Two minutes off the four added on time, Former Express FC Player – Onduparaka striker who was brought off the bench volleyed in a beauty for the Caterpillars at the death to seal their victory in an entertaining affair.

The defeat is the third for Express FC; the side had previously lost to UPDF and Mbarara City.

What next for both sides

Express FC will look to bounce back from that defeat with a trip to Jinja in Kakindu as they visit BUL FC on Friday, October 27 as Onduparaka will host Vipers in Arua the following day.

Elsewhere

Masavu FC drew 2-2 with UPDF FC at Bombo Barracks with Alex Gitta’s side coming up from down on both occassions.
