Kenya’s Tikolo Appointed Uganda Cricket Team Head Coach

Uganda Cricket Association has appointed Former Kenya captain Steve Ongoji Tikolo as the new Senior National Team head coach.

The highly rated tactician was unveiled on Monday afternoon at the same time the cricket association was launching the ‘Project 2016/17.’

Tikolo assumes the reigns at a time the National Men’s Team is preparing for the World Cricket League Division 3 tournament in the first quarter of 2017 and the Under 19 team is doing groundwork for the World Cup Qualifiers.

This is not the first time the illustrious figure is in Uganda with the national team after a previous serving as the batting coach around 2012-13 before he guided Kenya under-19 cricket team at the 2013 ICC under-19 World Cup Africa qualifiers in Kampala.

“Uganda has a lot of talent, but it will also take a lot of hard work to get the job done and get to the place where we want to be playing,” Tikolo was quoted by Uganda cricket.

Henry Okecho who was previously the National Development Manager  will take over the Under 23 and Under 19 boys team with assistance from Michael Grace Ndiko.

Other coaches for the junior teams were also revealed. They include Emmanuel Isaneez and Jackson Ogwang as the assistants to Henry Okecho in the U-23 and U-19 as John Tumusiime and Emmanuel Kamya combine brains for the Under 15s.
