2020 University Football League Season Officially Launched, Draws Held

The draws for the 2020 University Football League draws were successfully held on Tuesday at Kati Kati restaurant in Lugogo.

This year’s season will have a total of 20 universities expanding from the 16 that participated in the previous seasons and we’re grouped into five.

Muni University, Kabale University, University of Kisubi (UniK) and Mbarara University are the new entries that will take part in the championship.

Defending champions Uganda Christian University were pitted in group B against Kumi University, Kampala International University, and Islamic University in Uganda.

2019 University Football League runners up St. Lawrence, were drawn in the same  Group D to Bishop Stuart, YMCA, and Makerere University Business School.

The top team in each group will directly advance to the quarterfinals and will be joined by three best second placed teams.

The competition will kick off on Friday 7th February, 2020 till November.

UCU beat St. Lawrence 2-1 in an entertaining final held at StarTimes Stadium, Lugogo to win the 2019 event.

  • University of Kisubi

Group B

  • Islamic University In Uganda (IUIU)
  • Kumi University
  • Uganda Christian University (UCU)
  • Kampala International University (KIU)

Group C

  • Uganda Martyrs University (UMU)
  • Busitema University
  • Kampala University (KU)
  • International University of East Africa (IUEA)

Group D

  • St. Lawrence University (SLAU)
  • Bishop Stuart University
  • Makerere University Business School
  • YMCA

Group E

  • Bugema University
  • Muni University
  • Gulu University
  • Nkumba University
