UPL: Mixed Emotions for Express as URA Visits Wankulukuku

It will be mixed emotions for Express Football Club fans ahead of their StarTimes Uganda Premier League match against URA FC this evening.

Express will return to their home ground at the Mutesa II stadium, Wankulukuku where they last hosted a league match last year.

The stadium was banned by the FUFA Licensing Committee last year because of its poor conditions and deemed unfit to host any league match. However, earlier this week, the stadium was given the green light to resume its duties.

On a sad note though, the long awaited homecoming match has to be played behind closed doors following a ruling by FUFA Disciplinary panel after Express fans resorted to ‘unsportsmanlike conduct’ against Maroons.

Express fans attacked the Maroons’ bus in the aftermath of the encounter and caused some damage, and as punishment, no spectators are allowed to watch the game for either side.

The first time Express fans will watch a home game hosted at Wankulukuku will be on the 6th of May against Wakiso Giants.

Back to the game itself, Express Coach Wasswa Bbosa, will aim at maintaining his unbeaten league run since his return to the club.

Bbosa has so far managed three matches with wins against Onduparaka (0-1), Tooro United (2-1) and draw against KCCA (1-1).

Visiting side URA will rely on their morale boosting 3-1 home win against table leaders Vipers SC at the Mighty Arena, Bombo.

The reverse fixture between both teams ended in a barren draw leaving both seeking maximum points in this match up.

Eric Kambale, Frank Senyondo, Dissan Galiwango, Frank Kalanda, and goalkeeper Mathias Muwanga will be the go-to-men as they were impressive in the previous match at Lugogo.

A win for the Red Eagles will take them to 31 points and put them 8th on the log, while a draw will take them to 29 points.

URA gets into this game with 37 points after 23 games and look to go level on points with 4th placed SC Villa provided the game ends in their favor.

Predicted Score

Express 2-1 URA FC

Other fixtures

Busoga United vs Wakiso Giants – Jinja

Proline vs Tooro United – Lugogo
