Kyabazinga Set to Drive in Jinja Rally

Eastern Motocross Championship (Jinja) rally has been officially launched today morning at the ‘Source of the Nile’ Hotel in Jinja.

The event which has secured sponsorship from International University of East Africa (IUEA) is scheduled to run from 6th to 8th March 2020 in the Eastern parts of the country, crisscrossing through the areas of Mayuge, Magamaga and Jinja town.

The rally is the second on the 2020 National Rally Championship (NRC) calendar after the Mbarara rally which took place in February.

Speaking at the official launch of the three day event, Alfred Mutanda, the EMC Technical Director re-affirmed the public that all the necessary preparations have been taken to ensure safety and success of the rally.

“It’s an event that will cover a total of 295 Kilometers. This event has been designed in three pillars including fans safety, lower driver costs and reduced costs of fans all aimed at prevention on the accidents incurred during the rally events. We have designed spectator areas where fans will stand and watch the event from,” he said.

“We are proud of the Kyabazinga of Busoga Kingdom His Majesty William Wilberforce Kadumbula Gabula Nadiope IV who will feature in this championship as the main driver and we are looking forward to having a huge number of spectators,” Mutanda continued.

A total of five sections will used including Team KG sponsored by rally driver Musa Kabega, Chrolide EXIDE, Mutiko which is the longest section of the rally, Ex Drives stage the shortest and the Super Special Stage which will take place at Kakindu stadium.

His Majesty Gabula Nadiope, the Kyabazinga of Busoga Kingdom will grace the occasion to showcase his driving skills as confirmed by the championship Technical Director.

The launch also attracted different personalities who promised to fully support the cause. These included Andrew Ntange the PRO Kyabazinga Kingdom, Paul Nsubuga Bigita the Sales manager Coca-Cola Beverages, and Maurice Otieno the Sales and marketing manager IUEA.

Shell, Coca-Cola, International University of East Africa (IUEA), Chloride EXIDE are all sponsors for the upcoming event scheduled for next month.

Having won the first National Rally Championship event on this year’s calendar, the Mbarara rally, Duncan Mubiru ‘Kikankane’ will look to keep up momentum and secure another triumph of the season.

Yasin Nasser is the NRC defending champion after claiming the crown on the 1st of December last year, in a dramatic fashion.
