Pepsi University Football League | Match day Two
UniK 1-2 Kabale University
Peter Niwagaba netted in stoppage time to guide Kabale University to a slim 1-2 away win against University of Kisubi (UniK) in the Pepsi University Football League action that happened on Sunday afternoon.
Muyambi Davis had put the visiting side Kabale in an early lead before Prince Aryatuha could score in his own net for the hosts’ equaliser at Kisubi playground.
Kabale’s first attempt came after 5 minutes when Atuheirwe Joel cut in from the left and had a pop at goal which just flied wide of Bogere Stanleys net.
Seven minutes later, Kabale went into the lead when Twijukye Bright gambled on a loose ball and played it across for Muyambi who simply scored with a header.
UniK later had a great chance to draw matters on the level off a counter-attack when Katamba Keith fed Onyango Bernard whose efforts curled over the cross bar.
In the 80th minute, UniK equalised through Prince Aryatuha’s own goal off Isaac Kayongo and Keith Katamba interplay.
With only two minutes to the climax, Niwagaba restored Kabale’s lead when he met a corner kick and pocked home a reflex header.
After the victory, Kabale University withdrew Kyambogo University from the summit having six points from two games while UniK sunk to the bottom line with no point.
Kyambogo decelerated to the second position on three points while Mbarara University of Science and Technology is in the 3rd on three points as well.
