Busoga United head coach Abbey Kikomeko and Kyetume’s forward Robert Sentongo have been voted as the Uganda Premier League coach and player of the previous month of February.

The duo was recognised during a press conference held on a rainy Monday morning at the Kati Kati restaurant in Lugogo.

Kikomeko’s stellar performance in the previous month saw him register five wins and one draw out of the six games played gathering 15 points from a possible 18 for his Jinja based team.

“I thank the organisers so much who have recognised me as an outstanding coach of the previous month. I thank the media, federation, players, my technical team plus the sponsors who came up with such a morale-boosting idea to award the best coaches for a respective month and this accolade will just motivate me,” said Kikomeko after receiving the award.

He beat competition from Sports Club Villa coach Edward Kaziba, who won four, drew one and lost one from the six league matches for the Jogoos.

Kikomeko had a 40% from online voting while Kaziba had 60% but Kikomeko triumphed after the technical organizing committee’s decision.

In the players’ category, veteran forward Sentongo stood out victorious having scored six goals, four assists with two man-of-the-match accolades.

The center forward expressed his gratefulness in an exclusive interview with Chimp Reports.

“I’m very excited that this time around I have been finally recognised. I’m very hopeful that this accolade will motivate me to continue scoring more for my team and very sure that I will win the golden boot at the end of the season,” said a zealous Sentongo.

Mutakubwa bagged three man of the match accolades while Bagoole won the man of the match recognition three times last month.

Both winners parted away with One Million Ugandan shillings in cash (Shs. 100,000) and a plaque courtesy of sponsorship from Pilsner (each).
