Whilst many Uganda Premier League clubs are thinking twice on paying players and staff during this Coronavirus lockdown, it’s a different story with URA FC.
The Tax Collectors will fully honor the players and staff contracts despite concerns that led to suspension of all official sports disciplines in the country.
Patrick Ochieng, the club’s Public Relations Officer confirmed to ChimpReports that the Tax Collectors will continue paying their staff and players despite the break in the season.
“All our players have fully received salaries and transport allowances for this month despite not being at the club now and will be paid continuously basing on their contracts. URA FC respects everyone’s contract and will keep on paying them irrespective of the Coronavirus concerns,”Ochieng insisted.
Currently, the domestic league is halted by the 32 day lockdown, a measure by government to contain the spread of the outbreak.
Last month, UPL defending champions KCCA Football Club through their Vice Chairman Aggrey Ashaba noted that the team is not certain if will maintain paying their staff and players provided the lockdown exceeds the designated duration.
With five more games left to wind up the 2019/2020 Uganda Premier League campaign, URA FC on 40 points remains positioned in 5th after 25 games.
The League is expected to resume on the 5th of May with Sam Ssimbwa’s side expected to pay a visit to Proline at Lugogo.
