Rarely do you find a coach concurrently handling two teams, both featuring at the same level in football.

However, Frank Mulindwa is the man writing history in Uganda’s football, managing Royal Giants High School and Munta Royal College.

Since 2012, Mulindwa has upgraded his Coaching CV cementing his name in Secondary Schools Football Championships at different levels and also in the Junior level.

His decision to handle two entities at the same level is guided by the fact that both schools are under the management of Mr Ntambi Benon.

Mulindwa explained to ChimpReports how he handles the twin-task with ease and efficiency.

“I manage both teams because I was appointed by the headteacher of the two schools. We have the same team doctor and it’s me who work on both teams as the head coach. The assistants at both schools are knowledgeable enough to do things in the right way so I have two coaches at Munta Royal and two coaches at Royal Giants one of whom is a goalkeeping coach and also knowledgeable about players fitness,” Mulindwa said.

He added, “At first I was at Royal Giant High School Mityana in 2014 after qualifying Bujjuko High School for the Copa Coca-Cola Championship for three consecutive years in 2012, 2013 and 2014. I moved to Royal Giants in 2014 second term after the Copa Coca-Cola finals in Gulu and it’s just recently when I was appointed at Munta Royal as the team had decided to treasure football.”

He further explains how he manages to coordinate the different trainings sessions for both teams without conflicting.

“We do weekly training programs and outline key ares to handle accordingly. Coaches are given specific roles and Key Performance Indicators. I move to both schools according to the demands of the team and closeness of the competitions,” he narrated.

Mulindwa however admits that he prioritizes managing Royal Giants High School to Munta Royal College.

“Royal Giants has been competing for a long time after winning district championships three times winning three Regional Championships and played in the Nationals for four times in a space of 4 years. So I manage them according to the demand but prioritize Royal Giant as a senior side.”

Managing two teams at the same level is a dangerous venture as the teams inevitably meet at some point, a situation Mulindwa is well aware of.

“Both schools met each other when we hosted Mulama tournament last year. Royal Giant won the championship after beating Munta on semi finals 2-0 and won the title. But in that case I was much on Royal Giant because Munta was so stubborn and I needed the experience for the finals to win that trophy,” he noted.

As the main man at the helm of the two entities, the tactician outlines the targets for the year’s schools competitions for either team.

“At Royal Giants, our target is to win on the District level, regional level and at least qualify for East African Games. For Munta Royal college bombo, our priority is to go for the Nationals in Arua.”

Mulindwa also juggles as the head coach for Bright Stars FC Junior team in the FUFA Juniors League.
