Vipers Sports Club was on Wednesday crowned the 2019/2020 Uganda Premier League Champions, registering their fourth League title in the league history.
The league was ended prematurely following the Coronavirus outbreak that put all football activities to a standstill with little hope of resumption.
Upon being crowned champions in an announcement made by the FUFA president Moses Magogo, the Venoms coach Fred Kajoba expressed his joy for winning his first league trophy.
However, he paid tribute to his predecessor coach Edward Golola and his backroom staff that left the club midway through this campaign.
“I’m very excited that I have finally won my first title as a coach and praise be to God. However, we would have wished to win it sportingly by concluding all games on the pitch,” Kajoba told Radio 4 on Wednesday.
“I’m really thankful to my players and the administration for the backup given to me towards this course to Championship. But I give credit to the previous coach Edward Golola and his entire technical team who also did a commendable job to see this club become successful,” He added.
Since joining the Champions, Kajoba managed eight league matches and maintained a Four point gap with rivals KCCA that finished on 50 points in second.
Vipers will now represent Uganda in next season’s continental action, CAF Champions League and will now embark on preparations for the big task ahead.
