Masaza Cup record Champions Gomba are not resting on their laurels as management is intensifying the player recruitment exercise.
On Tuesday, the Ibrahim Kirya coached side secured the signing of playmaker Brashir Lubinga, a dentistry student at Mulago.
Lubinga expressed his gratefulness upon being confirmed as the latest acquisition for the record holders.
“It is a great pleasure to join Gomba Lions. This is one team with the best history and would love to be part as we win the fifth championship,” he noted.
Lubinga started his playing career at Hampton Warriors Academy before joining his current side, Athletic Sportivo Kampala.
The playmaker joins a long list of recruits at the Ssaza in the shape of pacy winger Ibrahim Kasinde, Sharif “De Maria” Nsereko, Richard Basangwa, holding midfielder Hussein “Grace” Senoga and goalkeeper Derrick Emmanuel Were.
Other new additions include Ben Nambokho, Ponsiano “Marcello” Ssegonja, Abdallah Ssentongo, Isaac “Falcao” Ogwang and Raymond Walugembe.
This year’s Championship was earmarked for this month but the kick off date is still uncertain since the country is still battling with the COVID-19 pandemic.
