Following the confirmation of Wasswa Bbosa as the club’s head coach on permanent basis, Uganda Premier League side Express is set to release up to 20 players.

This is Bbosa’s first step towards restoring the team’s lost glory and end the trophy drought at the club.

According to sources at Wankulukuku, the Red Eagles are looking to shed off a variety of players considered surplus to requirement as Wasswa Bbosa moves for a new squad look.

The players that could face the axe include Sadiq Ssekyembe, Lawrence Kigonya, Isaac Doka, Tony Kyamera, David Kakeeto, Shafiq Avemah, Hamis Batega, Muhammad Yiga, Joseph Ziwa, Enock Ssebagala, Joshua Musoke, Martin Kizza, Joshua Ssetambule, Denis Sserukwaya and Andrew Kiwanuka.

All the want away players were recruited by the former Coach Gorge Ssimwogerere who was relieved of his duties midway through the 2019/2020 season.

Their departure will create room for new arrivals and fresh legs that could see the Red Eagles back to their “glory days”.

Having confirmed Godfrey Lwesibawa as the First signing made by Bbosa and the new CEO Isaac Mwesigwa, the Wankulukuku outfit has been consistently linked to former captain Steven Luswata.

Other players on Express’ radar include goalkeeper Joel Mutakubwa, Charles Musiige, John Toki Byamukama, Fred Okot and Faizo Ssekyanzi.

The premature ending of the 2019/2020 Uganda Premier League season saw Red Eagles finish 9th on 31 points.
