Jinja SS and their Masaka counterparts have each got three representatives in Uganda Cricket Association (UCA) select team that will take part in this year’s edition of the Kwibuka genocide memorial tournament in Rwanda.
The peace Tournament that will have teams from Uganda, Kenya and hosts Rwanda is scheduled to take place from 10th -14th June 2016
Rachael Ntono who featured in the 2014 event will continue to skipper the sixteen man squad. Ntono transferred from Masaka SS where she was last year to Jinja based St. James SS.
Others recalled from last year’s squad include Mary Akwi, Staohanie Nampiima, Joyce Apiyo, Kololo SS duo Saidat Kemigisha and Patricia Malemekia.
Hosts Rwanda are the defending champions after dethroning Uganda-the 2014 winners last year.
UCA select team will be trained by Mr. Habib Mugalula of Jinja SS under Ms. Lwiza Nabulwala as the team manager. They depart on tomorrow (8th June) and are expected to arrive on Thursday.
The Ugandans will start their campaign against Kenya on Friday afternoon, then Rwanda the next morning. They have six fixtures lined up, three against each team.
The five-day event will mark the 22nd anniversary of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi.
