Ugandan defender Steven “Nesta” Mugisha and midfielder Brian Mugisha finally got the work done as their Le Messager side was declared 2019/2020 Burundi Primus League champions.
The crowning followed Le Messager’s 3-0 victory over Inter Star on Saturday at the Stade Urukundo in Mwumba with goals from Olivier Bayizere, Iddy Museremu and Arthur Nibikora.
The Ugandan duo however, was among the unused substitutes during the team’s decisive win on Saturday.
With one game left, Le Messager have 61 points from 29 games with their final season match coming on 24th June, on the road against Olympic Star.
With Le Messager officially declared champions, they will represent Burundi in the CAF Champions League the coming season.
The Burundi Primus League is left with one more round before the season closes.
