Project 2019.
Uganda requires a win against Comoros to reach the first ever major tournament since taking part in the 1978 Afcon edition in Ghana, 38 years ago.
“However, as FUFA we are not part of the excitement and ongoing qualification mathematics classes. Our medium term goal is for the Cameroon finals in 2019 whose qualifiers begin in fifteen months,” he stated.
“We believe our team will reach that level to compete in the 2019 Afcon because winning two away games in one campaign and in style shows how much we have matured.”
The Fufa president however pledged continuous support for the team in the current qualifiers which climax on September 3rd with the last game against Comoros in Namboole.
He informed the pubic that the federation is working tooth and nail to get the available funds from the government to ensure better preparations.
“The previous matches against Burkina Faso, the government gave only UgX 300M which was not enough to cover all costs but we appreciated because it was a period of transition. This time we are more optimistic with the people who have been appointed in the ministries and we’ll continue working.”
