Kampala Capital City Authority Football Club (KCCA FC) patron and the City lord mayor Salongo Hajji Elias Lukwago on Friday bailed out former Uganda Cranes players in Andrew Fimbo Mukasa and Jamil Willy Kyambadde.
Philanthropic mayor Lukwago’s timely help comes at a time when many have been financially crippled by the adverse effects of the Coronavirus pandemic.
Lukwago extended financial help of a sum of Two million Ugandan shillings (1m each) alongside other basic items like food and hens which were handed over to both players at their respective homesteads.

While giving his speech, the Lord Mayor urged all sportsmen to plan for their retirement and also called for the amendment of the 1964 Sports Act under the National Council of Sports (NCS).
“The current sportsmen should pick a lesson and plan for their retirement. There is also need to revisit the NCS sports Act of 1964, to prioritize the Infrastructure (sports facilities), administration and welfare of players when they are still active. During retirement as case is with the NSSF Act as a supplementary social security system that will in turn boost individual savings,” he said.
During the courtesy visit, Lukwago was accampanied by his newly appointed Deputy Doreen Nyanjura, Hon. Olive Namazzi (Minister for Health, Education & Sports) and Hon. Moses Kataabu (Minister for Finance, Administration & KCCA Board Member).
