Onduparaka FC centre back Rashid Toha signed a five-year extension deal that will cordially keep him at the club up to 2021.
The tall, imposing and immensely gifted player revealed that signing the deal was just a way of appreciating his childhood club and burying rumors of his exit.
“This is the only way i can reward this club for all that they have done for me,” he told ChimpSport. “Am very happy that they believed in me. It was just an easy choice to sign five years.”
Transfer rumors had linked the youngster to Uganda Premier League giants SC Villa but he was quick to deny.
Toha, nicknamed Mertesacker due to his similar style of play to Germany international Per Mertesacker, was previously on the radar of South Sudan national team, the Bright stars.
He was however given his debut in the Cranes team during a noncompetitive match against Eastern select in a regional tour last month.
“Toha Rashid for me has great future as I see piece of Nemanja Vidic as I was his coach for 5 years,” Cranes coach Milutin ‘Micho’ commented about Toha’s performance.
