Uganda Premier League record Champions Sports Club Villa have handed in their request to Mutesa II Stadium management seeking permission to make it their new home ground.

The Jogoos are plotting a move from Mandela National Stadium, Namboole which was declared a Covid-19 treatment center by the Ugandan government.

The development was confirmed in a written statement signed by SC Villa CEO Shawn Mubiru addressed to the Stadium manager Mrs Flavia Kalibbala,

“As you may know SC Villa has always been hosted at Nelson Mandela stadium, Namboole in Bweyogerere, Wakiso. The stadium has been declared as Covid-19 treatment center leaving us without home ground.”

“We therefore write to the management of Mutessa II stadium applying to be hosted there for the 2020/2021 season, we hope that management gives us the permission to access and host all our home games at the stadium,” read the letter dated 8th October 2020.

Besides Namboole stadium, SC Villa hosted some games at Luzira Prison playground and Bombo Barracks in last season when the national facility was deemed unfit to host league matches.

In case the request is granted, SC Villa will be sharing the Mutesa II stadium with arch rivals Express FC.
