Players Abroad: Mpande Scores Again, Kivumbi Inspires Mallbacken IF Victory

Another exciting weekend it was for Ugandan professional players in the diaspora, ChimpReports again brings you a detailed report of their performances at their respective clubs.

Joseph Mpande was back on the scoring sheet as his Hai Phong side claimed a 2-3 away victory over Nam Định in the Vietnam League One.

The Ugandan forward went off the mark after 83 minutes, scoring the winner that guided Hai Phong to maximum points at Thien Truong stadium.

Mpande had grabbed a brace in Hai Phong’s 2-0 win against Thanh Hoa last Tuesday prior to the weekend encounter.

Elsewhere, Moses Oloya played full-time for Hanoi FC as they claimed a 2-1 win over Becamex Bình Dương in the Vietnam League 1 playoffs.

Also, dreadlocked Cranes player Geoffrey Baba Kizito played full time as Than Quang Ninh defeated Ho Chi Minh City 2-1.

In Sweden, Ritah Kivumbi was on target as Mallbacken IF claimed a 2-0 win over Älvsjö AIK in the Swedish Elitettan, hitting the back of the net in the 75th minute.

Still in Sweden, Isaak Ssewankambo played 90 minutes and grabbed an assist in OFK Ostersunds’ 3-1 home loss to Hammarby in the Swedish Allsvenskan.

Uganda Cranes defender, Ronald Mukiibi Ddungu came on in the 7th minute for injured Thomas Isherwood but didn’t help his side escape a home defeat.

In South Africa, goalkeeper Denis Onyango was on the giving end as Mamelodi Sundowns pipped Kaizer Chiefs 3-0 in the DStv Premier League.

Midfielder Moses Waiswa an unused substitute as Supersports United claimed a 2-0 win against Black Leopards.

In Turkey, striker Farouk Miya played 79 minutes for Konyaspor in their 1-0 defeat to Gaziantep FC in the Turkish Super Ligue.

In the French Ligue 1, Dereck Kuteesa (injured) didn’t feature in Reims’ 4-0 victory over 9-man Montpellier FC to claim their first win of the season.

In the Danish Super League, Moses Opondo was nowhere to be seen as his Odense Boldkub side claimed a 3-0 win over Lyngby Boldkub in Denmark.

In Estonia, Edrisa Lubega came off the bench in the second half as his Paide Linnameskond side cruised to a 3-1 away win over Kalju FC in the Estonian Meistriliiga.

In England, Ulke Ikpeazu Mubiru came on in the 69th minute as his Wycombe Wanderers side suffered a 2-1 defeat to Norwich City in the English Championship.

Elsewhere, Elvis Bwomono played full-time as his Southend FC side lost 2-0 to Tranmere Rovers in the English League two.

In Portugal, left back Alex Kakuba didn’t feature for CD Cova De Piedade as they registered a 2-0 win over Leixões S.C in the Portuguese LigaPro.

In the United States of America (USA), Mike Azira was left on the bench as Chicago Fires FC played to a 2-2 draw with New York Red Bulls in Major League Soccer.

In DR. Congo, Joseph Ochaya was an unused substitute as his TP Mazembe side shared spoils with Motema Pembe after a one all draw in the Vodacom Linafoot.

In Algeria, attacking midfielder Allan Okello started for Paradou AC in their 2-1 win over Tribal Youth in a friendly game.
